Hey from Kansas

My week in Kansas ends on Thursday and I am sad/happy. hah!

Thursday of last week started off with lots of driving and good food. We met our host families, and I found out that I would be staying with MY korean, Ji Hye. Oh how I love thee. ANYWAYS, we have a sweet older couple who live by themselves in a big ol' house. I got a room to myself...yes! and Ji Hye shared a room with Dooley (: Every morning we wake up to a delightful meal in which Mr. Paasch has made us. haha

Friday brought TONS of sleet which messed up our plans a bit, but none the less we learned a whole bunch! It was really good.

Saturday brought TONS OF SNOW!! haha I was so happy...so happy.

Sunday I turned 19!! and we hung out with a youthgroup here. It's funny, because not 3 months ago, I was still in youthgroup.

Monday brought working working working....we went to a homeless shelter and did a bunch of little tasks that would take the staff forever to do...we painted, cleaned, and painted. haha

Tuesday was our day off. We played team charades...our team gives a whole new outlook to charades...

Wednesday has yet to come, but we will be doing service projects at a church, and then going to a bar, where a youthgroup gathers (crazy cool) and we will hang out with them.

Thursday we leave for Oklahoma, and I will update you more then (:

picturees will be posted when I get back from Oklahoma.

What have I been up to, anyways?

Yoooo!

So I'm definetly NOT a writer at all, but for some odd reason feel the need to write a blog . Maybe I'm writing this so you can be updated on everything that is happening to me while I am with YWAM..? I don't know, BUT I can fill you in (:

SOOOOOOOO...Three months ago I moved to a tiny town in Texas called Lindale. The longest I had been away from home was two weeks...maybe. So here I was 18, and scared to death to be with out my comforts, friends, OR family. Everything was so new, everyone so much older. To make it all worse, the weather was ICKY! Cold and rainy...no fun! My first day of classes was intimidating, I had Heather Kline, and she spoke about quiet times. It was so good, but then we had Dean Sherman. He spoke on spiritual warfare. hah! You should have seen me...lost! Every chance I got, I went back to my room to talk to my family. Oh! speaking of my room, it is the epitome of tiny. haha The first time I ever had to share a room, and it was with 3 other girls, two of which don't speak english very well. My attitude was less than satisfactory. hah.

I look back now and wonder when it was that I started changing, because I am so different than when I started. God was secretly working on me while I wasn't paying attention. He has really helped me to let go of things that I have held onto for years. He freed me from what weighed me down most. When I say the word "free", I mean it! I have learned how to give my burndens to the Lord, and not worry about them any more. To make it all better, I learned all this with my team of 15 other people, and have grown to love them so so much! God is changing all of us together, which is just bringing us so close.

Here I am, days from being 19, and I am about to leave just as I got comfortable. Whaaattt?!

I leave my new found comfort on March 26th to drive to Kansas for a week. While we are there we will be attending a conference, helping out, hanging out with a few youthgroups, doing a couple service projects, and spending a day with an AIDS hospice.
We will then drive to Oklahoma and while we're there we will be doing the same kind of stuff. After Oklahoma, we will drive back to base, stay there for a night, and then drive to Dallas and fly out to Costa Rica at 6:35 in the morning.

Costa Rica will consist of farm work, rebuilding the city, and making relationships with the locals while ministering to them. We will be there for 32 days. I am so excited to go, you have no idea, but I am also terrified to leave the comfort of being just a few hours drive from my family. hah!

I feel like Costa Rica is going to be a life changing experience. Not like this hasn't been, but I think my world will be rocked in Costa Rica. God has crazy cool things planned for me while I am gone, and I am oober excited to take them on. The power of prayer is amazing you guys, please pray for me, and thank you those of you who have been praying for me, it has definetly made a difference. I love y'all (:
